THE REGENERATION AND MODERNIZATION OF THE ANCIENT CITY OF IBADAN SYMPOSIUM

The Regeneration and Modernization of the Ancient City of Ibadan Symposium was held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the 22nd Floor of Cocoa House, Dugbe Central Business District, Ibadan. Organised by Global Africa Investments Ltd, the high-level forum brought together leaders from government, the private sector, and key professional institutions to chart a sustainable, modern future for one of Nigeria’s most historically significant cities.

The convener, Prince Afolabi Andu, in his opening address, described the symposium as a call to action — a defining moment in the transformation of Ibadan. He acknowledged the efforts of the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration, especially in road infrastructure, mobility, and investor confidence. Prince Andu highlighted Ibadan’s legacy as a city of many firsts and expressed that while its glow may have dimmed in recent years, its potential for renewal remains intact. The time to act, he stressed, is now.

The symposium featured a robust lineup of speakers and sector leaders, with all major built environment institutions duly represented — including the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), and Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV).
